Why GEO Matters
Your developer account GEO determines the storefront your apps are initially associated with, the currency for in-app purchases, and how Apple's review teams approach your submissions. Some categories (gambling, VPN, adult content) are only available in specific regions. The right GEO can be the difference between instant approval and months of back-and-forth.
The US remains the gold standard. It provides the widest category access, the most familiar review environment, and the highest trust level in Apple's system. US accounts are accepted everywhere and face fewer restrictions on app types. If you're running performance marketing or publishing apps globally, US is the default choice.
UK accounts are nearly identical to US in terms of access and stability. The UK storefront has strong purchasing power and a mature review environment. Particularly good for fintech, health, and productivity apps. A solid alternative when US accounts are in short supply.
Germany is the largest app market in the EU and accounts are backed by robust business infrastructure. German accounts are excellent for European-facing products and work well with e-commerce, finance, and utility apps. EU regulatory compliance is built in.
Australian accounts offer great stability and are less scrutinized than US accounts in some app categories. Strong choice for gaming, entertainment, and lifestyle apps. The APAC reach is a bonus for products targeting that region. Good tier-1 alternative when US/UK aren't available.
Canada sits just outside the top tier but delivers reliable performance. Similar regulatory environment to the US, strong purchasing power, and good category access. A smart choice when US accounts aren't available and you need North American reach.
